More and more greenhouses are using screens to maintain the ideal climate conditions. In addition, screens serve a social purpose by minimizing light pollution.
Our screen drive systems are used in glass greenhouses, such as Venlo, open roof and wide-span greenhouses. They are also used in poly greenhouses, if the structure is sufficiently strong. The overview below shows the most common screen solutions:
This system can only be used in greenhouses with a strong enough structure, such as glass greenhouses or in gutter-connected poly greenhouses. A motor gearbox drives a winding tube that winds up steel cables, opening the screen.
This screen system is suitable for almost any glass and poly greenhouse, since it places lower demands on structural strength. A push-pull system uses pinion house units, gear racks and RW motor gearboxes to open and close a screen.
The roller screen system can be used in a greenhouse sidewall or the greenhouse roof. Roof roller screening is practically only found in wide-span greenhouses. In roller screen applications, the drive system is mounted directly onto the sidewall or roof. Roller screen systems are also used to divide or separate areas or blocks (compartments) in a greenhouse. Ridder can provide two drive systems for this type of screening, which wind the screen onto a winding tube:
Ridder has developed more powerful motor gearboxes, specifically for screen purposes. These motor gearboxes are indicated by the addition of the letter 'S'. Deciding which motor gearbox will best suit your needs depends on the size and weight of the screen. We'd be happy to advise you.
